the 3 M’s abundance challenge : meals | movement | mind

I’ve spent so much of my life taking things out and attempting to restrict myself in some capacity or another. I’ve spent countless hours trying to make myself smaller. Make myself less. Take up less space.

I’m done. I’m done with restriction. Done with weigh-ins. Done with doing anything that doesn’t help me thrive. Done with anything that doesn’t add value to my life.

I want to embark on a 12 week challenge. Not a challenge like I’ve done in the past where the focus is NOT on body image or weight. Nah. Nope. Not happening. This 12 week challenge is all about bringing abundance and positive and radical self-love into my life. I want to meet myself where I am and add more into my life. More nourishing foods, more positive energy, more healthy habits, more movement that makes me thrive.

Starting Monday April 16, 2018 I will be implementing a new challenge into my life. I’m calling it The 3 M’s Abundance Challenge : Meals | Movement | MindOver the course of 3 months I will be focusing on bringing beautiful positive things into my life, not focusing on restriction or taking things out of my life. I think that by focusing on healing and nourishing things, things that do not serve me will naturally fall to the wayside. However, I think a shift of focus, a shift to abundance will make such a difference in my life and mental well being.

I want to make this as attainable and doable as I can so instead of trying to bring something new into my life every single day or week, I’m going to focus on creating ONE new habit every other week. I want to give myself TWO weeks to adjust to the habit I am trying to create before bringing in a new one.

It’ll help us be accountable and it’s always fun to connect with others who are on a path of healing and self discovery.

You may read my month to month plan and think “I already do this stuff” and if that’s the case that is awesome! I am proud of you! The goal is to bring more good stuff into our life so you bring in whatever good stuff you want! These are the good things I want to bring in. Adapt it to fit your needs!

Let’s begin and add MORE of the good stuff into our life!

Month ONE is focused on Meals.


I want to start off with meals because I’ve created so much negative energy around food and meals throughout the span of my life. I’ve been dieting since before I started puberty. I’ve been working on changing that for a few years but I still get swept up in it from time to time.

I want to start my abundance challenge with meals because I want to view food as enjoyable fuel for my body. I want to feed my body nourishing whole foods and not feel guilty over indulgences. I want to make cake, eat cake, and not feel bad.

April 16, 2018 I am kicking off my challenge by feeding my body more plant based foods and something GREEN every day. I will give myself 2 weeks to make this a daily habit. I plan to get my daily greens in through smoothies, salads, stirfrys, and whatever else comes to mind. The second phase of Meals is to add more water into my daily total starting April 30, 2018. I want to drink 3L of water every single day. Every time I drink more water I feel great! I’ll stick with this habit for 2 weeks before moving to Month two.

Month TWO is focused on Movement.

In the past, I’ve exercised only to lose weight. I went to the gym to penalize myself for what I ate and not to celebrate what it can do. Thanks to yoga, a lot of that has changed. I move my body because I like seeing how far I can push myself. However, I want to start moving my body with love. I want to add workouts and fitness activities that feel good in my body. May 14, 2018 I’ll be focusing on hitting my daily step goal and perhaps surpassing it. The weather will be nice at that point so I imagine we’ll be spending more time outside which will make this a fun family activity. Two weeks later, May 28, 2018, I’ll focus on trying something new. I want to try a new activity. I’m thinking it’s going to be something like rollerblading which is so out of the norm for me but I’ve never done it before and I’ve been wanting to do it for 2 years now! But I haven’t made time for it because I didn’t think I would be good at it and I was only counting workouts I could easily log at the gym. Yet, I still think about rollerblading pretty much every other day. We live in the perfect neighborhood for it and I think it would be a unique activity to add into my routine. This abundance challenge seems like the perfect time to add it in! I likely won’t be doing this everyday but want to get in the habit of going a couple of times a week while the weather is nice.

Month THREE is focused on MIND.

Over the past 2 months we have added more whole foods, more wholesome movements, and now we have the energy and capability to add more radical self-love and positive energy into our life. The mind is the hardest thing to tackle for many people (including me) so I wanted to focus on it last because it would be easy to be distracted if we didn’t handle our MEALS and MOVEMENT first. Hopefully by this point we are feeling vibrant and well and we can really hone in on creating positive changes in our MIND.

June 6, 2018 is all about bringing gratitude into our life. We go in and out of our days and it’s easy to overlook the beautiful things we have going on. I want to start with a grateful heart for this month and write or speak 3 things I am thankful for every single day. Two weeks later on June 25, 2018 we will be focusing on daily meditation/ deep breathing. And we’ll start slow and realistic aiming for 5 minutes or more. Some days you may be able to get a 20 minutes session in and other days only 5 minutes will work. Whatever time you have to give the important thing is to give it. Every single day.

And two weeks later the 12 week challenge is over! We use our final day to reflect and think back over our 3 months. We take some time to see what worked for us and what didn’t. 29162330 (3)

Like I mentioned earlier, I wanted to keep it doable and realistic. I want to add things into my life that nourish me. I’m ready to make my life so big that I wouldn’t dare try to restrict or limit it. I want to practice a self-love so radical and embrace all that I am and all that I want to be. I’m ready.

I believe in big hair and and live by the 5 (sometimes 10) second rule when food falls on the ground. I want to create a greener, simpler life for my little family while at the same time sharing everything I eat, yoga poses I try, and ideas about life with my smartphone attached to my hip. I'm sort of a hot mess living by the motto "fake it until you make it."
