30 smoothies in 30 days (day 5) : magical magenta

Welcome to day 5.

It’s flying by! This beautiful smoothie is a perfect blend of tart and sweet. It’s fresh tasting and the color is amazingly vibrant. I give the almighty cranberry credit for this beautiful color.

I love adding cranberries into my smoothies because they are a superfood packed with vitamin C, E and K, dietary fiber and they are anti-inflammatory. Cranberries also have been linked to a lower risk of urinary tract infections (please be mindful that they do not cure them however!) and they boost our immune system and lower blood pressure. Plus, they make smoothies a beautiful hue.

I buy my cranberries in bulk when they go on sale during the winter months and freeze them so I can have cranberries in smoothies all year long. Please note that I do not use any liquid in this smoothie because the fruits provide enough on their own. However, you are welcomed to add in some coconut water or liquid of choice if you desire.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup red grapes
  • ½ cup black grapes
  • ½ cup frozen cranberries
  • 1/c cup pineapple
  • 1 orange
  • 1 inch ginger

Directions:

Place all ingredients in high speed blender and blend until a smooth consistency. Drink right away.
